Exchange of Data with DWP and Performance Measure 10
For colleagues who were at the General Meeting on 7 December 2007 you will recall that I alerted you to this issue.
Following the view of the annual meeting the Society’s views were put forward to the December DWP/Local Government Association meeting.
All three local authority associations support a suspension of PM10 and the matter is being considered by the DWP.
Working Group covering Subsidy and Temporary Accommodation
Since the New Year I have attended working groups on official error overpayment subsidy issues and temporary accommodation.
In respect of the former no significant changes are proposed other that additional clarification being given.
The latter relates to a longer-term review of the caps and thresholds for temporary accommodation and there possible replacement with a new system of LHA rate payments in regards to the rent element plus a possible average weekly figure for the administration/supervision element of the current costs. This is not a big issue for districts but we need to keep a watching brief.
Both changes are programmed for April 2009.
